I was just wondering if the "QB drop" option in the create-a-play mode really effected anything. I think the selections are 1, 2, and 3 yard drops or something like that. I have a feeling that it might effect how big the pocket is, but it doesn't seem to.
And If these options do effect something, I would also like to know which you guys think is most effective and which you should pick for shotgun plays, or if it just depends on what kind of play you run......thnx

I'm pretty sure you're right. It generally has an effect if you take your hand off of the controller and let the CPU run the play, but with manual control it really doesn't matter.

I've also thought about the pocket protection, and it would make sense for a 1 yard drop for example to have the tackles let the DEs run upfield around the edge to create a passing lane, knowing that the pass will be made quickly, but I've never actually tested this. I usually just assign a value that makes sense for the play.

It works well for me to do a 1 yard drop in a passing play, let the pocket develop, and check for QB spys, if there are none, run forward for 10 yards. Or, if they are spying, throw the ball. You need good OLs, though. That's the only use I know for the drop options.
